Team Inserm 2: "Proteolytic Mechanisms in Inflammation"
Leader : G. Lalmanach

Team 2 is associated (primary field) to the ITMO (Thematic Institute Multi Organisms) « Pathophysiology, Metabolism, Nutrition ». Secondary thematic field: ITMO "Molecular and structural bases of living organisms".

Three major research axes are developed within the team:

1- Role of pulmonary proteases in inflammatory pathologies
- Protease-antiprotease balance during idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
- Proteolytic regulation of the antimicrobial properties of proteins/peptides of innate immunity
- Structure-function relationships of neutrophil serine proteases (NSPs) and macrophage cysteine cathepsins

2 - Control of the proteolytic activity in inflammatory pulmonary pathologies

- Targeting of proteases in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Pulmonary targeting of neutrophile serine proteases
- Development of biosynthetic analogs of protease inhibitors

3 - Imaging of proteolysis
- Development of activatable fluorescent probes (NIRF probes)
